I’m Marcy Alittlebit and I decided to start chronicling about my love of health and running and my attempt to find balance in my life and achieve my goals. I have an amazing partner, Steven, who shares my passion for running and fitness. He tends to be incredibly encouraging and upbeat when we’re running or working out. Which sounds awesome and definitely pushes me to do better. But also can be so like, really? How is this fun for you? It’s almost like a sadistic level of positivity. I also have two daughters. My older one is in fourth grade and is into competitive gymnastics. She’s very opinionated and super smart. I sometimes forget she’s only in the fourth grade because she seems so much older. She can also talk more than anyone I have ever encountered. It’s unbelievable. And she definitely doesn’t shy away from a conflict. My younger daughter is really sweet. She recently discovered a love for soccer and that’s become her thing. Also loves art and writing. Seems to get along with just about everyone. It’s funny how two kids with the same parents can be so different. Our last roomies are our two dogs. Raja is our three year old chocolate lab. She’s terrified of everything and plays ball obsessively. Sampson is our one year old golden retriever. He’s a sock thief and struggles to function in life due to his intellectual limitations. He has made me believe that ignorance truly is bliss. So, we all live in our house in Illinois in the way north suburbs of Chicago. And I think we have been blessed with a pretty amazingly awesome life.
I am not originally from Illinois. I grew up in New Hampshire in a cute little town called Kensington. One blinking red light, one little country store, zero post offices, many arguments over the phone with shipping companies regarding the existence of our address. I moved to Illinois a little over 10 years ago and both of my girls were born here. My parents have since moved to another small town in NH (to be fair, there are almost only small towns in NH) and we like to go out to visit whenever we can. Illinois has been a fun place to live. Most of the running out here is flat, especially compared to NH. People are generally friendly, although I do sometimes miss the “mind your own business” attitude of New England. The food. I just can’t with the food out here. Beer, brats and butts. (I realize some of those items aren’t technically food. They are, however, categorized as necessities in this state.) I don’t drink or smoke and I eat primarily plant based. It has really inspired me to get much better at cooking.
I decided to start this blog to chronicle my attempts at achieving balance in my life. I believe it’s possible to set big goals while still being a great partner and parent. Excuses are the biggest waste of time! Lives are meant to be fulfilling and joyous. When we are living our purpose and achieving what we dreamed, we are an example of what is possible.
