TVP Taco Filling (Textured Vegetable Protein)
Ingredients
- 1 cup TVP
- 1 medium onion
- 15oz can diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup corn kernels (frozen, canned or fresh)
- 1 Tbs olive oil
- 3/4 cup water
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp organo
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
Directions
- Heat olive oil over medium heat in a large sauté pan
- Dice onion and add to pan. Sauté for 3-5 minutes
- Add the TVP and toast in pan for about a minute
- Add the tomatoes and stir
- Combine the spices and stir, then add the water and mix
- Pour the spice mixture over the TVP mixture and stir
- If using frozen corn, heat up in the microwave for about 40 seconds. Stir the corn into the taco mixture.
- Let it all warm and cook in the pan for at least two minutes.
- It’s ready to serve
- * This filling keeps well in the fridge and can be served cold as a dip with chips!
